Members Equity Bank Limited, also known as ME Bank is a national bank of Australia, with its headquarters in Melbourne. ME Bank was established in 1994 under the name of Super Member Home Loans or SMHLs by Industry Super Funds in Australia. In 1999, its name was changes to Members Equity Bank and it received the banking license in 2001. After receiving it's Financial Services License in 2003, it began offering other financial services such as bank deposit accounts. It received $10 million in funds under management. ME Bank is owned and operated by 30 industry super funds that includes AustralianSuper, HESTA, HOSTPLUS and CBUS. Former Governor of Reserve Bank of Australia, Bernie Fraser, was chairman of the bank for 15 years.
Even though the bank was initially established to offer only home loan products, today it offers a wide variety of low cost banking solutions to its customers. Some of the products and services they offer are home loans, personal loans, commercial loans, asset finance services, credit cards, car finances, insurance services, online savings accounts, investment accounts, mobile banking, term deposits and savings and business accounts for individuals and businesses.
