The Carey Group began in 1951 with humble beginnings when a young Townsville accountant, Brian Carey moved to take up a job opportunity in Ingham. With wife Eunice, Brian settled in Ingham and commenced work in the accounting firm of Larry Kelly. In the 1960s John Hackett joined Brian and firm traded as Carey & Hackett until 1976. The firm changed its name to Carey Accountants in the early 2000s. Sons, Robert and Joe, together with Greg Watson, now take responsibility for the management of the Carey Group. The group is based in North Queensland, but provides accounting and financial services and solutions throughout Australia and in some international locations.
