The Queenslanders Credit Union was incorporated in 1959 with the name ABC Staff Association (Qld) Coop Credit Union. The Queenslanders Credit Union of today has evolved from the amalgamation of its state's first public service employees credit union, and an Ipswich-based credit union originally founded to serve the Queensland coal mining industry. There have also been smaller mergers along the way including Media Credit Union, Austax Credit Union and Hardboard Employees’ Credit Union.
The Queenslanders Credit Union offers a full range of banking products and services. These include various types of loans such as personal loans, home loans and business loans. Moreover, Queenslanders offers a wide range of insurance options such as life insurance, home & contents insurance, car insurance, caravan & trailer insurance, motorbike insurance, travel insurance, lenders mortgage insurance, business insurance, boat insurance, travel insurance and landlords insurance. Furthermore, it also offers savings accounts, everyday accounts & investment accounts. In addition, financial planning is also provided. Likewise, MasterCard credit card is also offered as well as internet, mobile and phone banking services.
Unlike most other financial service providers, Queenslanders is a credit union, which means its customers are also its owners. On joining Queenslanders, each customer purchases a $10 share, which entitles them to vote at the organization's Annual General Meetings and, in doing so, participate in the election of the Board of Directors.
