In October 1966, the Central West County Council Employees Credit Union was formed with a total of 86 members. In November 1970, the Credit Union opened to local government and hospital employees within the county council area and its name was changed to Central West Credit Union Ltd. In 1980, it accepted engagements of Parkes Industries Employees Credit Union Limited.
A major progressive step came in 1981 when the organization opened to include all members of the community.
Today it has branches in Parkes (Head Office), Forbes and Cowra, and agencies at Condobolin, Peak Hill and Grenfell. Governed by a local Board of Directors, elected by the Credit Union's members at an Annual General Meeting, the Union today employs 23 staff of which 12 are full time and rest part time. With membership over 11,535, its managed assets are of over $111 million.
The Union provides all kinds of financial services and products. Savings account, various kinds of lending options such as car loans, home loans and personal loans, fixed term deposits, overdrafts, redicards, redinet, rediphone, reditext are just a few of examples. All kind of financial services with planning, various types of insurance products and foreign exchange are other premium services available to its valued members.
The Union prides itself as being a supporter of community events and sporting organizations and is a major sponsor of the Forbes Sports Person of the Month awards and supporter of various nonprofit organizations.
